Boarding House Matron, Christchurch, Supervision

A vacancy exists for a Matron in one of our four boarding houses from the start of term 1, 2009. This is a live-in position and self-contained accommodation will be supplied.

Reporting to the Housemaster, the matron is responsible for the care of all boys within the boarding house (approximately 56 boys from year 9 to year 13) and the supervision of house domestic staff.

The successful applicant will have an empathy with and understanding of young people, and the ability to develop effective professional relationships with boys, house staff and parents. A first aid qualification, or willingness and ability to obtain one, is essential. Experience in a pastoral role (preferably involving teenage boys), basic computer skills, and a current driver’s licence will be an advantage.
